The first step in this process is to acquire a comprehensive understanding of a client's financial goals. Based on this, we develop a customized investment plan. We construct an investment plan based on optimum allocation of a client's assets amongst various classes and investment styles that maximize the probability of client achieving their goals while staying within their parameters of tolerance for risk and requirements for liquidity. Our asset allocation models enable a client to clearly evaluate the tradeoffs between various expectations of return and risk. Within each asset class or investment style, we suggest to clients various investment strategies that we have identified based on our experience, research and knowledge of specific fund managers. Investment strategies may include actively managed individual security accounts, in-house funds managed by LHO, mutual funds, hedge funds and alternative investment vehicles. Once an investment plan is put in place, it is closely monitored to ensure that the asset allocation remains consistent not only with the clients evolving objectives but also with LHO's forecasts of economic and market conditions. We believe this forecasting capability is a vital aspect of our service particularly in turbulent economic and market conditions. We recognize that the achievement of a client's financial goals needs to take into account several aspects which could include mechanisms to maximize wealth from stock option plans or deferred compensation plans, handling of concentrated low-basis stock positions and planning for family wealth transfer. In such situations, LHO is glad to work in collaboration with the client's own advisors in such areas as tax planning, estate planning and insurance.
